funky babies review

I saw this bonnet and knew I either needed to buy it right away or make my own. I am a mother of 3 children under the age of 5 so the idea of sitting back down at a sewing machine is really just a dream. I bought 2 for my then 4 month old. The bonnet with the fleece is brilliant due to the fact that not only does it keep your child's noggin warm it also provides ample shade from sun or overhead lighting while they are strapped in a car seat or stroller.
The down side is that one of the bonnets seems to lack the attention of a professional seamstress. Either the seam allowance is off or the pattern is off so that when the bonnet is folded in half it is not mirrored side to side and one of the chin straps is out of position by 1/2". I found the chin strap to be almost too short (mind you I must have the chubbiest babies in the world, she's 5 months old and 20lbs!) with ample snaps towards the top of the strap where I can't imagine anyone would use them. The bonnet falls and covers her face while she is in a stroller (the back of the head rubbing on the stroller) which could be fixed by securing the chin strap further back towards the nape of the neck.
That being said, every time she wears it we get compliments and she seems quite happy to wear it over other traditional hats that never stay in place or are quickly discarded. I would recommend this purchase, but hope they improve their workmanship. you can get them cheapest on Amazon through this link.
